We remember those lost in Atlanta. Their murders were unambiguously racist and misogynistic acts directed toward people of Asian descent and women who were perceived as sex workers.
We stand in solidarity with the AAPI community and sex workers as they confront the latest, heinous manifestation of the patterns of violence and injustice they face. We also recognize this attack as symptomatic of the broader patterns of white male supremacy that terrorize our society. Working together, we can build a better world that is safer for everyone.
In this tragic moment, let us dedicate ourselves to being better allies to the AAPI community and sex workers. Here are resources we can use to educate ourselves about the injustices these communities face, and suggestions for how we can begin to take action.
